Privacy Policy

Lather.AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Information we collect

In the app: Lather.AI stores the following data locally on your device only — it is never sent to our servers:

• Your skin profile (skin type, concerns, ingredients to avoid)
• Scan history (product names, grades, ingredient breakdowns)
• Saved/favorited products
• A randomly generated device ID used solely to track your monthly scan allotment

Product photos: When you photograph an ingredient label, the image is transmitted to our backend server to be processed by Anthropic's Claude AI. The image is not stored — it is used only to generate the analysis and then discarded.

Email address: If you join our waitlist on latherai.net, your email is collected and stored by Formspree. We use it only to notify you when the app launches. We do not sell or share your email.

How we use your information

• To analyze skincare ingredient lists using AI
• To personalize ingredient grades based on your skin profile
• To suggest better product alternatives
• To enforce fair usage limits (10 scans per device per month)
• To contact waitlist subscribers with launch updates

Third-party services

Anthropic: Ingredient analysis is powered by Anthropic's Claude AI. Product photo data and ingredient text are sent to Anthropic's API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to data processed through their API.

Amazon Associates: Lather.AI participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you tap "Find on Amazon," you are directed to Amazon.com via an affiliate link. Amazon's privacy policy governs your interactions on their platform.

Formspree: Waitlist email submissions are processed by Formspree. Their privacy policy governs data stored on their platform.

Data storage and security

Your skin profile, scan history, and saved products are stored exclusively on your device using AsyncStorage. We do not have access to this data. If you delete the app, this data is permanently removed.

Your device ID and scan count are stored temporarily on our backend server in memory and are not persisted across server restarts.

Children's privacy

Lather.AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

• Delete your local data: Uninstall the app. All locally stored data is removed.
• Remove your email: Email hello@latherai.net and we will remove you from our waitlist.
• California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Contact us at the email above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of Lather.AI after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
